"I was talking to an eskimo..."
Hi! I can get on LJ with the new computer! Yay! [Well, actually, it's an old computer but whatev]
I think you lot may have figured that out already but I have a thing for stating the obvious sometimes. lol.

Halloween was okay. I didn't really do anything. We got to dress up at school, as you may recall me mentioning. I was going to be Yoko but then I changed my mind at like the last minute and went as John. I made a button with "War is Over" on it and everything. lol. It was pretty great. I have a couple pics but Idk if I'll get them posted anytime soon. A few other people dressed up but a lot of the seniors weren't there b/c it was one of the Senior Skip Days. My friend Rachael was Sarah Palin. She talked like her too, and kept saying "maverick." lol. Yban was Flava Flav as Freddie, Danielle was a nurse, Callie was Jane Fonda from the 80s, and Dana was Jack Sparrow and I had to draw a moustache on her face with a marker. This one guy, Gary, he was an old man with a walker and everything. I think he won for most creative or something...The funny thing is his name is Gary Cooper. lol. Seriously though that is his real name. Sadly, no one actually gets that. I mean, I don't think he even realizes it. lol.

After school I did some face painting at the library. That was cool. I'm starting to appreciate the little kids more. I mean, I'm not a big fan of kids really but I guess they're growing on me. One boy wanted me to paint candy corn on his face. haha. That was pretty random. Then this woman wanted an eye in the middle of her forehead. I think she said she was the Ghetto Queen or something. lol. That was pretty weird. I was surprised that a few adults wanted their faces done too. While there was a lull in kids, I painted my own face. I did a green peace sign and wrote peace under it in white. All the librarian women were like amazed that I could do that. haha.

After that we went by Bojangles to see Shelia at work. She got to dress up too. She was Pippi Longstocking and this other girl there was the Buger King...king. lol. That was pretty scary. haha. She was busy but she like worked and talked to us. I was surprised they had that many customers after eight o'clock. I just got some fries [I LOVE Bojangles fries. mmm.] b/c we had already eaten but I felt kinda like we weren't supposed to be there or something. Idk. I guess it's weird seeing her at work and not just hanging out or us eating there together or something.

I have epic amounts of homework this weekend. We just read Lord of the Flies a.k.a. the WORST BOOK EVER. And we have to write an essay on it this weekend instead of taking a test. Next week we're going to start Frankenstein, which I wanted to read first because it was Halloween and stuff but I got out-voted. I have Calculus too and GoPo but she's not going to be there so I think I'll do it in class Monday. I painted a Walrus in art but someone hit it or something when I was carrying it to my next class so I need to repaint one little spot before I take it back to Mr. Perry. He didn't like it anyway. lol. But yeah, he kept telling me all these things I needed to do to it and I tried to explain that I wanted it to look like that. Finally I guess he got the message idk. He didn't say anything else about it.

So yeah, I guess I need to go finish up some stuff. I'll catch y'all later. =)

Love,
Anna

p.s. I'm also reading Catch-22. It is about 37 different kinds of awesome. You should totally read it. =D

Wow, your friends at school sounded like they had some really cool costumes! That's why I love that they let people dress up there, because they come up with such original stuff. I saw a guy at school yesterday dressed up as Mario, and this girl in my gym class dressed up as Amy Winehouse and she had her look down to a T.

Ew, you just finished Lord of the Flies? We read it sophomore year and I hated it, too. I liked the writing style, but I hated the plot and the characters and it was just gross. Let me know how Frankenstein is, because apparently we're reading that at some point in my Brit Lit class.

And what's Catch-22 about? I've always heard things about it but never really looked into it.

Yeah, I wish more people had decided to come because I would have loved to have seen their costumes.

We're starting it this week and if it's not too long, we should be done in two weeks or so.[She has like everything mapped out as far as how long we have to read each book and whatnot.] I'll definitely make a post about it. =)

It's about this guy, Yossarian, and he's in Italy in WWII and he tries to get out but everytime he gets almost done with his required number of missions they raise the number. So he tries to convince people that he's crazy so he can go home. That's where the catch comes in. If you're crazy, you can be sent home but you have to ask to be sent and if you know to ask to go home, you're not crazy enough to go. lol. There's a lot of random other things that go on though too. A lot of things about planes and war and it talks about all the various people that know Yossarian and stuff. It's pretty funny, I think. It seems like something John Lennon would have liked. lol. =D
